Hazarteb Tehran has been the exclusive importer of Livacox Vaccine from Biopharm company for more than 10 years. This attenuated vaccine is the only vaccine produced by this Czech company and effectively tackles Coccidius disease in its two types; Livacox Q and T. While Livacox Q is suitable for layers, Livacox T is mainly administrated for broilers.
Due to high demands from consumers, Hazarteb Tehran organised two seminars in Mazandaran and Golestan province on 24th and 25th August 2014 in order to address the consumers’ queries. The seminar was initiated with a speech given by Dr. Ali Jamali Paghaleh (chairman of Hazarteb Tehran) that welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the programmes of the day. He also promised to organise similar seminars to meet the consumers’ requests. The initiation speech was followed by presentations from representatives of Biopharm company - Dr. Jan Byrtus (chairman of the board) and Dr. Etienne Effenberger (Technical and academic assistance). Dr. Byrtus started off by providing some background information about the Biopharm’s history and its’ activities over the last 50 years in conducting research to tackle Coccidius disease. Following this short presentation, Dr. Effenberger provided a more in depth and technical presentation in two sections. The main components that were covered in the first section are the following:
- 1. The life cycle of Eimeria in the digestive system of chickens.
- 2. Different methods of treating this disease and the importance of control and prevention of disease using vaccination according to the latest research.
- 3. Information of different strains of Eimeria and the pathological importance of each strain.
- 4. Significance of not including all the strains in one vaccines.
- 5. The dangers of resistance that has been caused by anti-Coccidius agents.
- 6. Different routes of administration including drinking water and spraying.
- 7. Ways of optimising the effectiveness and uniform vaccination of the chicken farms.
The second section of Dr. effenberger involved answering the raised questions by consumers. Some of the important discussions are listed below:
- 1. Means of preventing Coccidius infection in broiler chickens.
- 2. The difficulties around diagnosis of disease considering the absence of suitable and sensitive laboratory equipment.
- 3. Possibilities of vaccine administration in chickens that are less than 3 days old.
- 4. Possibilities of simultaneous administration of the vaccines alongside other vaccines via spraying method.
The questions were answered and in most cases the audience were adequately satisfied with the answers. In other cases, further investigation by Hazarteb was arranged to examine and monitor infected farms further.
A survey conducted at the end of the seminar indicated the great satisfaction of the participants- many of whom asked for further seminars to be organised.
Hazarteb Tehran feels responsible to answer and address the queries that are raised by its’ consumers and will certainly arrange similar informative seminars in these two and other provinces in Iran.
Our gratitude to our exclusive distributors in Mazandaran and Golestan province, Amin Parvar Zarrin and Nivan Arad company for inviting technicians and clinicians to this seminar.
